LEGISLATIVE FRONT

Keith Brooks:

Legislatures are looking at legislation pertaining to managed care however this legislation falls behind legislation for school funding. The General Assembly is not in session at this time therefore it is a excellent opportunity for our members to speak to their legislatures in their home environment. In other word schmooz em! Talk to them about their constituents (your patient's) problems which they are encountering with the managed care system. Remember chiropractic is non-partisan. Speak to them about PARCA and Anthem Get thing to Bob Taft and Lee Fisher about PARCA point of service. Talk to them about things that are good for our patient's. Get comfortable about managed care. Get in touch with of Litie and brooks for updates. Key DC's get off your butts. You have to educate these legislatures about chiropractic including our education. Don't forget these may be new legislatures and may know nothing about chiropractic. Tell them your personal frustrations with regard to your patients not being able to receive care from the physician of their choice.

Dan Litie:

Fedorko and Oslegar
Patient's Bill of Rights
Otto Battie is introducing legislation which enable your patient's to continue to see you even though their employer purchased a new insurance program which you are not a member. Legislatures very receptive when not in session get to them now.
Sherman and Litie met with the dept. of insurance about Anthem. Anthem is now meeting with house of insurance about dropping seniors from HMO Medicare.
Brown and Litie working with chiro who did not send in his money for his licence. The OSCA saved him 1000 in fines.

OLD BUSINESS

Anthem

Bob Fadalla of Anthem returned the call from Mr, Brown and told him that they did review the 60 items which were sent however, no call was returned. The next step is to obtain Anthem contracts from our doc's patient. At this time if you have any Anthem patients get their contracts or copies of it and send it to Sherman. His address is:

     Robert P. Sherman, J.D.
37 West Broad Street, Suite 785
     Columbus, Ohio 43215

At this time Anthem lists chiropractic as a supplemental form of service and not a basic service. To change this our docs must contact their legislatures and advise them of this if Anthem receives word from legislatures they may turn things around. So far most legislatures do not know any thing about this.

Still other steps that must be taken before any civil action can be made against Anthem are as follows:
Department of insurance must be notified
then the Department of human services must be notified
then a Temporary Restraining Order may be applied for.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR SPINAL MANIPULATION
