    Therapeutic Uses
    Para-aminobenzoic acid (PABA) participates in a number of biologic processes. Aids in utilization of proteins, fats and carbohydrates. Necessary for formation of blood cells (especially red). Vital for hair pigmentation. Possible antifibrosis action due to mediation of increased oxygen uptake at tissue level. Possibly effective in treatment of scleroderma, dermatomyositis, pemphigus and Peyronie's disease. Topical PABA is used as a sunscreen.
