TOO MANY PEOPLE SUFFER BACK PROBLEMS

Back

Back problems are the most commonly suffered maladies in our society and there is a reason! Modern society has become highly complex, not only in the workplace, but in every area of the human environment. Technological changes and their effects on the human being have created new stresses, many of them related to body and structure. At its best, this results in discomfort, dissatisfaction and limited performance; at its worst, it results in serious health problems. You can do something about that back problem. The doctor of chiropractic is a physician who considers the human as an integrated being, but gives special attention to spinal mechanics and neurological, muscular and vascular relationships.

Every year thousands of people suffer structural health problems as the result of lifting incorrectly. In addition to being painful, injuries of the back and spine can be the basis of other health problems, the symptoms of which may pop up in other parts of the body. Use the rules of proper lifting on your job, at home and at play. And should an accident occur or a back strain be indicated, visit your doctor of chiropractric immediately.

Six Rules on Proper Lifting Techniques Recommended by Doctors of Chiropractic
Lifting
  1. Size up object and plant feet solidly about 12" - 18" apart.
  2. Kneel in front of object and lift as you straighten up.
  3. Lift with big muscles of legs, thighs, arms and shoulders, not the spine.
  4. Get help with large or awkward objects. Use mechanical lifting devices if load is too heavy.
  5. Have a clear vision of your path. Clear away items in advance to avoid tripping.
  6. Use common sense and never try to lift more than you can handle.
Visit your family doctor of chiropractic to correct spinal health problems.
